ENGINE

Triumph has long been known for its innovative three-cylinder designs, but the DOHC liquid-cooled engine breaks new ground. Each piston measures over 4 inches .Triumph claims 147 ft.-lbs. of torque at 2,500 RPM and 140HP at 5,750 RPM for the oversquare fuel-injected mill. All this power should give the 704-pound (dry) juggernaut a 0-60 time of around 2.8 seconds, and a 0-100 time of just over 7 seconds.Power is laid down through a five-speed gearbox, shaft drive (a first for Triumph) and an impressive 240/50-16 rear tire.Stopping the beast are twin 320mm discs and four-piston calipers from the firm's Daytona 955i sportbike in the front, and a 316mm disk with a twin-piston caliper out back.Cruiser-style ergos should make this performance easy to handle. Seat height is set at a surprisingly low 29.1 inches, and the reach to the forward-mount footpegs and pullback handlebars.

DESIGN

They started work with David Stride, Gareth Davies and Rod Scivyer, building on the unusual configuration of the Speed Triple's twin headlights, working around an in-line three cylinder engine. At the start of the project in-line four and a V6 engine configurations were looked at but the longitudinally mounted triple design quickly took hold and the design concept code named C15XB Series S1 was born. Mockett experimented with ‘futuristic’ styling that included "raygun" mufflers and a large chrome rear mudguard, but consumer focus groups didn’t like it - although the concept was generating a lot of interest.

RIDE AND HANDLING

The model was a simplified version with a more traditional rear mudguard and several features that were to make it through to the final design. Once again, the feedback from market research was that it was still too radical so the lines were simplified and smoothed out to create the next Series . This was agreed as the final look and with a few refinements, the project started in earnest.The final design of the bike prototype had a large tubular steel twin-spine framed, designers are responsible for designing the gearbox and shaft drive to a 240/50ZR16 bike specific rear tyre. High specification front brakes were twin four-piston callipers with 320 mm floating discs and the rear brake, developed specifically for the purpose, was a single twin piston calliper and 316 mm disc. Ride handling is controlled by purpose built rear shocks and 43 mm 'inverted' front forks

ENGINE

DESIGN AND COMFORT

RIDE AND HANDLING

Suzuki Intruder M1800R boasts of great brakes but in an undulating terrain when we have to shift gears, the ride can get bumpy occasionally. However, in normal road conditions, riding Intruder M1800R is an exciting opportunity tht is mostly taken down beneath its huge fuel tank and also to the front of the rider to give an easy manoeuvrability. The seat height becomes lower than the Triumph's III and makes it easily manageable. This is a commendable feature and the more one rides the bike the better one feels. To feel the difference. The front suspension of Suzuki Intruder M1800R is inverted telescopic, oil damped and coil spring while the rear suspension is the link type. The tubeless tyres offer greater stability and gripping on the road. A big bike but with remarkable balance. YAMAHA YZ250F

while we were expecting for fuel injection, YZ250F comes with a Carburettor., This motor gets better breathing, lighter valve-train components, more efficient combustion and a new exhaust system starting at the cylinder head porting.

Bottom end improvements range from new gear ratios and strengthening as well as clutch leverage and spring rate changes.

Interestingly, the power improvements across the boardare designed, and this is a direct quote, to, "Improve power while reducing noise."

New Airbox shape

This is designed to straighten and smooth the intact tract from air filter to carb. The smoother and straighter the path from air to fire, the better-especially for fuel injection (which we expect to see next year on the YZ250F. The entire air filter is shifted to the left 10mm.

New Carburettor with new Bore Venturi Shape and new settings:

Continuing the straight-shot air management, Yamaha designed an all-new carbUrettor body.. The accelerator pump cam is changed for quicker fuel delivery. Also, the jetting is changed to the richer side of things. Yamaha is going for a good "torques" feel at low RPM while delivery the best response possible under quick openings.

New Cam Profile:

The YZ250F's intake cam profile is changed for better low end to mid-range power and response. The Yamaha YZ250F took a little beating in the past from the press for being a bit sleepy on the bottom. Maybe this will silent that. The cam now has 7.7mm of lift versus the 7.6mm from last year while maintaining the same cam timing. That means the valves are opening a bit more but opening at the same time-basically. There is a hard surface treatment applied to the very top of the valve stems, too. Yamaha's proven YZ250F valve durability should see an improvement with the fancy hromium Nitride coating.

Valve Spring Retainer Changed From Steel to Aluminium:

Lighter is better and with the reduced load on the spring thanks to the Aluminum retainer, the spring rate can also be lightened. The intake spring load is reduced 12% and the Exhaust spring load is reduced 9%. Reduced friction and better low-end to mid-range power and response are the goals.

Exhaust Port Shape Is Changed and Volume is Reduced:

Yamaha wants its exhaust gases to have more velocity so it shrunk the exhaust port into a D-shape. Guess why. Yep, for better throttle response.

New Exhaust System:

Yamaha went back to (after going away from) a two-step mid-pipe for 2010. It steps up from 45 mm to 50.8 mm right after it attaches to the frame. Further back the muffler grows 50mm and gets a reduced core diameter. Inside, the "pipe perforation pitch" (meaning the amount of holes, really) changed from 4-5mm. That means the less holes and they are farther apart. The muffler mount changed from rubber to solid metal-on-metal. All this to reduce sound without reducing power from the new Yamaha YZ250F.

Clutch Modes:

Internally, Yamaha YZ250F clutch basket center boss gets hardened material for more durability and the clutch arm ratio and clutch spring load are both increased. The result? Easier lever pull (3% easier) with stronger engagement and wider engagement area feeling. That means less herky-jerky clutch on-off action.

Transmission updates:

Gear strength is increased in 3rd, 4th and 5th gears with 3rd and 4th getting a slightly taller ratio. That's like a half tooth difference on a rear sprocket. There is also some revision to the drive dog shape. Stronger, better engagement is what Yamaha is looking for here.

Ignition:

Ignition mapping is changed to match all the intake and exhaust specifications for the 2010 Yamaha YZ250F.

New Radiators and mounting/hose routing:

The 2010 Yamaha YZ250F radiators mount 15mm lower and 10mm farther back than 2009. Also, the hose routing changes and the mounting points increase from two to three. This makes stronger radiators without the external bracing we've seen in the past.

YAMAHA YZF-R1

ENGINE

Yamaha R1's engine now has the shortest stroke of any 1000cc which would normally give a peaky power delivery though the new crank and firing order fill in the low and mid-range grunt. Peak power remains the same as before, but torque is up by 2ftlb. Now it stands at 179bhp@12,500rpm and the maximum torque of 85ftlb@10,000rpm. The motor has forged the same aluminium pistons, fracture-split conrods, ceramic composite plated cylinders, titanium inlet valves and exhaust and a slipper clutch. The piggy back generator has been moved down to the end of crank to make room for the new, lower fuel tank. The fuel injection system, featuring electronically controlled variable length inlet trumpets, now has shower injectors in upper airbox like the Yamaha R6. The fly-by-wire throttle system is modified to give better control of air intake volume.

DESIGN AND COMFORT

The overall look of the Yamaha R1 has changed with new designs. The stark difference between last year's model and the 2009 is that the latest version looks with much more compact and agile. The center up exhaust on the 2009 model seems significantly larger compared to the previous year's. The front has the same classic R1 shape, though the air intake location and headlamp design have been revamped on the new model utilizing only projector lamps and using the newly designed space within the nose cone. Taking cues from its younger sibling the R6, the R-1 now has a cast magnesium subframe that is ultra light and reduces weight at the outer edges of the motorcycle to centralize mass. The inside rails are extruded and the entire chassis rigidity has been revised for optimum handling.

RIDE AND HANDLING

Compared to the previous Yamaha R1, the '09 model is sharper in steering retaining the earlier Yamaha neutral feel. The engine is mounted 9° steeper and 8.2mm further forward than before, putting more weight on the front end. Weight distribution is now 52.4%, 47.6% front to rear. The riding position is more compact. The wheelbase is down by 5mm to 1415mm. The R6-type magnesium sub frame, shorter titanium end cans and lower short fuel tank help improve mass-centralisation. Footrests are now two-way adjustable with 155mm up and 3mm back. The 43mm upside down forks now have independent damping, compression in left and rebound in right leg. Yamaha says this improves the damping response. As the forks are connected by the yokes and wheel spindle, it's all one unit balancing out properly. The rear shock has a new bottom link set-up and a new hydraulic preload adjuster. The steering damper is now speed sensitive and controlled electronically. The '09 Yamaha R1 carries the same six-piston caliper and 310mm disc set-up as the previous model. Discs are slightly lighter than before. The master cylinder lever ratio is improved and lightened by 25g and the lever shape itself is new. The rear tyre profile is improved for better side grip. Another advancement included on the 09 model is D-Mode Throttle Control Valve Mapping which allows a rider to choose between 3 distinct maps depending on the rider's environment such heavy traffic, highway and wet conditions.

The English designer, John Reed's conceptualized design of Yamaha V-Max was first released in 1985 with great acclaim winning the title "Bike of the year" from Cycle Guide. The bike was offered for sale through the Star Motorcycles division of Yamaha till 2007. In 1993, the bike got a refreshed look with a larger-diameter fork to reduce the high-speed wobbling and drift the four piston brake callipers and other minor upgrades for safety and handling. Yamaha Motors India has launched the 2009 model of V-Max in Indian market with the hope of creating a loyalty cult for the company. The New Yamaha V-Max is sure to ignite the mind of the bike fanatics with the great phenomenal power and performance of this mind blowing machine.

ENGINE

The 2009 VMAX is powered by an all new 1679cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke DOHC 65 degree V4 engine which offers an unforgettable acceleration experience. The engine develops maximum power of 194 Bhp at 9000 rpm with maximum torque of 170 Nm at 6500 rpm. The new engine now produces impressive power and torque mainly because of the several changes in the new engine. The new engine is boasts of some of the most advanced Yamaha engine management technology ever seen in the category.

DESIGN AND COMFORT

The chopper-like Yamaha VMAX displays the ultimate craftsmanship with many of its highly refined features and high-end contemporary look. The VMAX gets a muscular aggressive profile from the well designed aluminium air intakes mounted on the front left and front right side of the dummy fuel tank. It has now got a massive air box to deliver a strong supply of cool fresh air to maximise the significant performance ensured by the new YCC-I system.

The beautifully-finished black main frame spars run across the mighty V4 engine and down to the pivot in a semi-loop which highlight the handsome aspect with the bold, athletic and high tech image. The VMAX's new diamond-type frame has been developed using Yamaha's industry-leading chassis design and manufacturing technology making it a strong light weight structure. Featuring massive tubes, the front forks are like nothing else seen on any other machine, and are perfectly in tune with the bike's unique character.

The multi-functional Organic Electro-Luminescent "OEL" instrument panel mounted on top of the fuel tank is one of the striking features on VMAX. This newly designed OEL panel gives a bright, easy-to-read display and offers an instant response which includes a wide range of functionalities such as Odometer, Tripmeter, Clock, Fuel gauge, Temperature gauge, Gear position, Running fuel consumption, Intake air temperature and throttle opening, Stopwatch with a countdown function.

RIDE AND HANDLING

The braking system on the New Yamaha VMAX is the most sophisticated and powerful design ever seen on a Yamaha motorcycle. At the front end, the 320mm dual discs are gripped by radial-mounted 6-piston calipers for excellent stopping power and the superb feel is sourced from the master cylinder's radial-type pump. And for strong, confidence-inspiring braking, the new VMAX relies on a 298mm wave-type disc slowed by a pin-slide type single-piston caliper.

The VMAX is equipped with a newly-developed linear-controlled hydraulic ABS system which is designed to enhance braking control over a variety of road surfaces. The hydraulic control system is activated by a linear solenoid valve which prevents wheel lock-up during braking, allowing the rider to experience smooth lever action with effective braking on different types of road.

The 52mm telescopic cartridge fork offers excellent rigidity combined with smooth fork action. The new front suspension is designed to deliver a smooth ride with neutral handling characteristics, and is fully adjustable for preload, as well as rebound and compression damping, allowing riders to customise the ride to suit their own requirements. The combination of flex-resistant 52mm tubes, a cast aluminium upper triple clamp and forged aluminium lower triple clamp along with a wide pitch of 225mm and 30mm offset ensure a wonderful riding experience with neutral steering feeling.

YAMAHA MT 01

The latest hunk from Yamaha with the all naked look is MT 01 which has triggered sports riding revolution in

. It consists of a hi-tech 1,670cc V-twin with an aluminium sports frame and cutting-edge suspension and brakes. It owns an enormous heart that produces huge torque for hammer-blow acceleration, a trendy sports chassis, a pulsating exhaust note that speaks aural ecstasy and monumental styling of the bike. The Engine is using Idle speed controller through which the Idle speed is controlled by an electronic stepping motor. It is a huge monster with top end seat and fantastic brakes. It handles easily and doesn't weave around at high speed even when the throttle pinned to the stop.

ENGINE

With 1670cc engine, it produces a peak power of 90 PS @ 4,750 rpm whereas the R1 doles out 182 PS @ 12,500 rpm. The MT-01 is completely dominated by the engine both visually and structurally. The 1670cc V twin is simply astonishing to look at and to use. It's enormous but manages tokeep most of the necessary external stuff as small and compact as possible. So the air filter doesn't get in the way, the injection is tucked up inside and things like the alternator and starter are all out of the way.

DESIGN AND COMFORT

Yamaha unleashed this powerful warrior with an aggressive set up look. Yamaha MT-01 has radial brakes and the exhausts looking like rocket launchers. The riding position is so comfy that the bum will stick glued to enjoy the heaven bound ride. The naked headlight works magnificently. It sports big clear mirrors, a horn that's as loud as the engine. The tank continues with conventional look and keeps a distinct family resemblance. The digital section houses a clock and trip meters. The fully adjustable upside down forks at the front is mated to an alloy frame with the big swingarms. The MT-01 has a particularly attractive metallic blue frame that goes very nicely with the silver bodywork. The wheels are the same moonstone-like blue and always look wonderful.

New 43mm Ohlins front forks have been designed to offer high levels of feedback from the road surface. These high specification forks have been developed in association with Ohlins specifically for the new Yamaha MT-01. They feature optimal spring and damping settings which have been set to match the unique characteristics of the Yamaha MT-01's high-torque engine and aluminium chassis. The Öhlins rear shock absorber features a separate reservoir which ensures consistent damping performance.
